Job Summary
As a Senior Backend Engineer at SumUp, you will modernize and evolve core banking services, ensuring high-load transaction management and resilient service delivery. You will work on distributed systems, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure compliance. Ideal candidates will have experience in building reliable services, proficiency in Golang, and an understanding of cloud environments. You should be committed to writing maintainable code and eager to learn about relational databases and system design.
Required Qualifications
- Solid backend experience building reliable, high-volume services
- Proficient in Golang
- Comfortable with other languages (Kotlin, Elixir)
- Knowledge of CI/CD best practices
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Curiosity for building reliable financial services
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of Elixir
- Deeper PostgreSQL experience
- Experience with event streaming platforms (Kafka)
- Experience with modern observability stacks (Grafana, Honeycomb)
