Job Summary
Senior Backend Engineer responsible for shaping architecture of scalable backend systems and developing features that connect hardware and software. Provide technical mentorship to the team, ensure high software quality through code reviews and automated testing, and contribute in an agile (Scrum) environment. Focus areas include backend development with Python/Django (or Java/.Net/C++ with interest in Python), relational data modeling with PostgreSQL, designing robust RESTful APIs, deploying on AWS, and driving clean code practices and architectural excellence for an IoT-focused product. The role is remote-hybrid from Graz, Austria, with relocation/travel costs covered if applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive professional background in backend software development
- Proven expertise in Python and Django (or similar web frameworks)
- Experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
- Strong ability to design/implement robust RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and modern DevOps practices
- Ability to mentor junior developers within an agile framework
- Commitment to high-quality standards and automated testing
- Excellent verbal and written English communication
