Job Summary
Own end-to-end projects for Pyroscope, the open-source continuous profiling database, by leading initiatives like Adaptive Profiles, trace-to-profile correlation, and agent-ready APIs. Design, build, and operate core distributed database components for ingestion, storage, and query while managing SLOs and unit cost targets. Wear the product hat to translate customer pain points into roadmap items and partner with squads across Grafana to integrate profiles into operational workflows. Participate in EMEA on-call rotations and contribute to the open-source community by reviewing external contributions.
Required Qualifications
- Solid experience with a systems language
- Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g. Rust, C, C++, Python, Java, etc)
- Distributed systems in production
- Experience building and operating cloud services
- Understanding of what it takes to keep a multi-tenant data system fast, reliable, and affordable
- Comfort talking to customers
- Comfort sitting with ambiguity
- Ability to break fuzzy problems into manageable deliverables
- Experience carrying a pager
- Experience doing SRE-style work
- Experience with infrastructure as code
- Ability to treat reliability as a feature
- Ability to break complex problems into short feedback loops
- Experience working well in a fully remote, asynchronous environment
- Ability to lead through writing, reviews, and shipped code
- Experience operating multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure at scale on Kubernetes
- Experience building for AI/LLM consumers
- Structured APIs experience
- Metadata and discovery endpoints experience
- Deterministic outputs experience
- Open-source contribution or maintainership
- Comfort engaging a community in the open
- Experience as an on-call user of Grafana, Prometheus, Pyroscope, or similar in a previous role
- Experience on a homelab
- Experience in a fully remote, globally distributed team
