Job Summary
Senior Backend Engineer needed to help scale an e-commerce platform connecting 3,000+ operators and 13,000+ experiences across ANZ with ambitions for global expansion. You will work on authentication/authorisation uplift, end-to-end request traceability, resolving N+1 query and fanout problems, scaling API endpoints, and reducing platform fragmentation. Stack includes Spring Boot, Micronaut, Java 17–25, Grails, Next.js, Node.js, React, OpenAPI; Infra with AWS ECS/RDS/Redis/Terraform; focus on secure, observable, and highly performant services. Projects run end-to-end with a pragmatic, ownership-driven approach; hybrid work arrangement based in The Rocks, NSW, Australia.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years backend experience
- Java and JVM frameworks
- Relational databases (MySQL or equivalent)
- REST/OpenAPI design for internal and external consumers
