Job Summary
Develop embedded Java microservices within Eclipse Facilities controllers and lead research on embedded software and Java technologies. Execute continuous integration and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps while collaborating with controls and sensors teams across the full product lifecycle. Participate in innovative projects spanning IoT solutions and artificial intelligence development, actively driving design improvements and process standards within the Shape Up framework. This role supports Distech Controls' mission to enable connected buildings for improved well-being and energy efficiency, requiring strong collaboration with global teams in Atlanta and Quebec.
Required Qualifications
- Computer Technician, bachelor's degree in computer science/computer engineering/electrical or similar
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software development
- Proficiency in JAVA and related technologies
- Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns
- Structured, methodical and organized in his work
- Developed synthetic analysis capability
- Team player and excellent interpersonal skills
- Autonomy, leadership and initiative
- English and French read, written and spoken
- Knowledge of recent versions of Java
- Experience with source code management tools, such as Git
- Ability to set up and track project documentation
- Knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec so incumbents can communicate with their colleagues and suppliers in Quebec as necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in embedded or mobile software development
- Proficiency in JVM-related languages (Kotlin, Scala, Groovy, etc.)
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C#
- Knowledge of low-level languages such as Go, C, or Rust
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure IoT
- Experience in unit test development
- Experience with Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGI) or other micro-service development system
- Knowledge of BAS protocols such as Bacnet
- Knowledge of Jetty, Nginx, Linux, Gradle, Maven, or Docker
