Senior Azure Cloud Engineer

Job Summary
Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable Azure cloud solutions supporting Tier 0 clinical and enterprise systems while managing governance across multi-cloud environments. Optimize cloud performance, drive application modernization and migration, and improve DevOps maturity through Infrastructure as Code and deployment pipelines. Own high availability, backup, and disaster recovery for critical systems, acting as a senior technical escalation point during incidents. Partner with cybersecurity, data, and application teams to implement security controls and support organization-wide digital transformation. Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards in a regulated, mission-critical environment. Full-time permanent hybrid role based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation, particularly Terraform
- Experience with Bicep, ARM templates, Azure DevOps and/or GitHub
- Experience leveraging Platform Engineering patterns and AI-assisted development (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery and operational efficiency
- Experience with AKS, Azure Container Apps, Function Apps or containerised application platforms
- Strong knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and resilience patterns
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to be used with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
