Job Summary
Senior Avionics Engineer to define, implement, and validate the end-to-end avionics architecture for UAV platforms. Lead integration of flight control (GNC), autonomy stacks, and C2 links; design and manage onboard communications (MAVLink, DDS, Ethernet, CAN, serial); integrate and validate flight controllers, companion computers, sensors, radios, and payload systems; ensure robust data flow and fault-tolerant behavior; drive HIL and system-level testing; collaborate with GNC, autonomy, C2, and EWIS teams; support flight testing, monitoring, logging, and post-flight analysis; document architectures and interfaces; adapt to Bundeswehr requirements; hands-on avionics, robotics, or UAV system integration experience; experience with PX4, ROS2, C++, Python, and common UAV software stacks.
Required Qualifications
- Several years of hands-on experience in avionics, robotics, or UAV system integration
- Strong experience with real UAV systems across fixed-wing and/or VTOL platforms
- Experience with autopilot systems (e.g., PX4) and UAV software stacks
- Proficiency in C++ and Python, with ROS2 or similar middleware
- Hands-on experience with communication protocols (MAVLink, CAN, UART, Ethernet, DDS)
- Experience with Linux-based systems, embedded computing, and system bring-up
- Strong systems-thinking mindset and ability to define, implement, and validate end-to-end avionics architectures
- Ability to lead hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system-level testing
- Experience integrating flight controllers, companion computers, sensors, radios, and payloads
- Comfortable with debugging hardware-software integration in real systems
- Documentation of system architectures, interfaces, and integration workflows
- Willingness to support integration into customer and operational environments (e.g., Bundeswehr requirements)
