Job Summary
Senior Aviation Planner leading complex airport planning and environmental projects, coordinating regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement while guiding junior staff. Responsibilities include developing airport master plans, ALPs, aviation studies, land use compatibility analyses, NEPA environmental documentation, forecasting and facility planning, preparing work plans and fee estimates, delivering presentations at public meetings and City Council briefings, reviewing others’ technical work, and contributing to proposals and scope development. Must ensure FAA regulatory compliance, manage project progress within scope and budget, and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, Geography, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive aviation planning, airport planning, environmental planning, or related experience
- Certified Member (C.M.) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) required; AICP certification and/or LEED accreditation preferred
- Demonstrated experience preparing aviation planning studies, airport master plans, airport layout plans (ALPs), land use compatibility analyses, and environmental planning documents
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, advisory circulars, airport planning principles, and applicable environmental regulatory requirements
- Experience with NEPA documentation and environmental review processes preferred
- Familiarity with airport capital improvement planning and FAA funding programs preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing project tasks, schedules, budgets, and multiple project assignments simultaneously
- Experience supporting proposal development, scope preparation, and fee estimating preferred
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive client and stakeholder relationships
- Ability to review technical work products, provide guidance to junior staff, and contribute to staff development and mentorship
