Job Summary
Diagnose vehicles according to appropriate certifications and perform complex, heavy-duty repairs while adhering to manufacturer and company standards. Execute multi-point inspections and repair orders with efficiency, then explain technical diagnoses to customers and non-mechanical staff. Recommend necessary services to maintain vehicle condition and document all recommendations in customer files. Follow strict safety procedures, report concerns to supervisors, and communicate regularly with shop personnel. Work flexible schedules involving up to eight hours of standing, bending, and lifting up to 70 pounds in environments with noise, dust, and fumes.
Required Qualifications
- Previous automotive technician / mechanic experience
- ASE certifications in lieu of experience
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized equipment for diagnostics
- Valid Driver's license
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical School experience
- Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop
- Walk to gain access to various areas of the building
- Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly throughout the day
- Full range of motion with arms and hands
- Ability to feel, handle or finger objects frequently
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly
- Lift and/or move up to 70 pounds frequently
- Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to effectively and efficiently diagnose and repair customer vehicles
- Adherence to MAP guidelines
- Adherence to dealership, manufacturer's, and company repair standards
- Ability to explain technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals
- Ability to recommend services that are necessary to keep the customer's vehicle in running condition
- Ability to properly document all recommendations in customer file
- Ability to follow all safety procedures
- Ability to report concerns to direct supervisor
- Ability to work flexible schedules
