Job Summary
Architect and maintain scalable API and backend test automation frameworks using modern languages and tools. Write and execute complex database queries to validate state changes, perform data integrity audits, and verify backend transaction workflows. Build functional, integration, and regression automation suites targeting REST/gRPC microservices and data pipelines. Balance a 70/30 automated-to-manual split by conducting exploratory testing for complex edge cases while driving high-impact test automation strategies. Integrate automated test suites directly into modern CI/CD pipelines, partnering closely with developers and DevOps engineers to drive shift-left testing practices. Anchor the test engineering strategy with a heavy technical emphasis on backend architectures, RESTful APIs, and complex database validation.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of dedicated experience in software quality engineering
- Proven emphasis on backend test automation (70%)
- Targeted manual validation (30%)
- Strong expertise automating RESTful APIs
- Experience with tools and libraries such as REST Assured, PyTest, Playwright, Postman, or Karate
- Advanced proficiency in SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL)
- Proficiency in at least one core programming language used for automation development (Python, Java, TypeScript, or C#)
- Demonstrable ownership mindset
