Job Summary
Senior Auditor at the Iowa Board of Regents, Office of Internal Audit, located in Iowa City, IA. Responsible for planning and conducting complex internal audits, evaluating operational and business processes for appropriate internal controls, researching issues and recommending policy or procedure improvements, performing follow-up reviews to verify corrective actions, and providing direction and training to staff auditors. Requires examining governance, risk management, and control processes in accordance with internal audit standards, government guidelines, and university policies; strong analytical skills, experience with data gathering/analysis, and ability to communicate findings clearly. Hybrid work model is available.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a business, accounting, or information technology field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years of applicable experience, with preference given to audit experience
- A certification in a related field: CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA
- Advanced knowledge of audit procedures and ability to assess organizational exposure to risks and recommend controls
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to critically assess business policies, procedures, and practices
- Experience with data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes
- Ability to establish and execute projects to meet deadlines
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
