Job Summary
Senior Associate, Transmission Market Analysis responsible for market analysis, nodal pricing, and forecasting to support Scout’s development, origination, M&A, financing, and asset management activities. Core duties include analyzing nodal prices and market trends using historical data and predictive methods; implementing and using industry software tools (PROMOD, EnCompass) for price forecasting; evaluating site viability and transmission constraints; collaborating with internal teams and external consultants (nFront, ICF) to deliver high-quality market studies; developing models to forecast covariance risk and informing decision-making; and contributing to cross-functional efforts across development, structuring, and finance. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or Finance, 3–4 years of energy market analysis experience, SCED modeling proficiency, programming and data-mining skills, travel availability (10%), and U.S. work authorization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance or a related field
- 3 to 4 years of experience in the energy industry with significant experience in market analysis, price forecasting, or similar analytical role
- Minimum of 1 year experience with Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) modeling using tools like PROMOD, Encompass, Dayzer, PLEXOS, AURORA, UPLAN, PROBE
- Knowledge in production cost and stochastic dispatch modeling for all generation resource types
- Experience in conducting transmission congestion and curtailment analyses, including SCED modeling
- Proficiency with market analysis resources (e.g. VelocitySuite, YesEnergy) and strong Excel skills
- Strong experience in data mining and working with large datasets; Programming skills preferred (e.g. Python, SQL, R)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Authorized to work in the United States. (This position is not eligible for sponsorship.)
- Willing and available to travel as needed (10%+)
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields listed; cross-functional collaboration and project management experience could be inferred
