Job Summary
Execute multi-step synthetic routes, optimize reaction conditions, and characterize organic compounds using chromatography, NMR, and MS to synthesize and design small molecules and peptide analogs. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to troubleshoot challenges and execute experimental plans that improve potency, pharmacokinetics, and in vivo efficacy of preclinical drug candidates. Document research activities and present findings clearly while maintaining safety protocols in a laboratory environment with radioactive materials.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Chemistry
- Strong demonstrable expertise in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry
- 3+ years experience (BS)
- 2+ years (MS) in a non-academic synthetic chemistry laboratory
- Strong small molecule synthetic skills
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety
- Experience synthesizing peptides
- Proficiency in compound synthesis techniques
- Proficiency in reactions
- Proficiency in compound purification
- Proficiency in troubleshooting
- Proficiency in characterization using methods such as LCMS, HPLC and NMR
- Familiarity with scientific software such as ChemDraw, Scifinder, and Reaxys
- Adaptable and flexible
- Ability to handle multiple demands and shifting priorities
- Self-motivated
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Adept in documenting and presenting findings clearly
- Ability to use AI tools to enhance individual productivity and quality of work
