Job Summary
Load and unload raw metal parts into automated welding fixtures, then execute pre-programmed cycles on robotic welding cells. Perform initial and ongoing visual inspections of welds to verify penetration and joint integrity, measuring finished parts against engineering blueprints. Conduct daily preventive maintenance on the welding cell, including clearing spatter and changing contact tips, while documenting production counts and equipment downtime logs. Maintain a clean work area adhering to 5S principles and strictly follow safety guidelines with proper PPE. This role supports global teams at Arabelle Solutions, a leading provider of nuclear turbine island technology and services.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years of experience operating robotic welding equipment or automated manufacturing machinery
- Basic knowledge of MIG (GMAW) or TIG (GTAW) welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, protractors, gauges)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted on a regular basis
- Capacity to stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts)
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Desired Qualifications
- Basic understanding of robotic teach pendants and PLC interface panels is a plus
- Certification from an accredited welding program or trade school (e.g., AWS certification)
- Hands-on experience with manual MIG welding for touch-up work or rework
- Experience with specific robotic systems (FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa/Motoman)
