Senior/Associate Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation

Job Summary
Undertake and own business development activities while leading and delivering technical outcomes for new and under-development power generation projects. Perform computer modelling, independent calculations, layout development, and desk top reviews to ensure engineering outcomes meet client needs, regulatory requirements, and allocated project budgets. Monitor and manage multi-disciplinary projects, applying business systems and processes for new build, refurbishment, and asset management. Provide technical and commercial advisory for generation facilities, including inspection, supervision, and reporting of site-based activities during construction and commissioning. Grow the company's capability to deliver projects in innovative generation technologies while developing and nurturing client relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in thermal power generation (typically 7–15 years, with a minimum of 5 years required)
- Bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to this field
- Open to and actions feedback promptly
- Flexibility to meet project and client outcomes
- Comfortable managing competing priorities and working under pressure
- Strong understanding of power generation plant design, operation and infrastructure
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a consultancy or within power generation environment preferred
- Chartered engineering status and/or state-based registration qualification (RPEQ, RPEV) preferred
- Experience in managing multiple engineering projects of varying complexity and size
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work virtually and face-to-face within a team environment
- Exhibits high degree of accountability and ownership
- Ability to manage self and undertake / manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Established Australian networks within the power generation industry
- Ability to lead and deliver projects, while liaising with internal teams and clients
- Ability to lead and develop strategic outcomes
- Gas turbine project experience extremely beneficial
