Job Summary
Lead the transaction due diligence process from inception to close, developing and maintaining detailed financial models to support underwriting of potential acquisitions, development, and structured finance. Coordinate and lead due diligence, underwriting and closing activities, including documentation review and analysis of key findings, rent analyses, detailed budgets, lease audits, warranty review/transfer, and assessment of capital and staffing needs. Engage with senior management and real estate professionals (sellers, developers, lenders, brokers, and third-party vendors), travel to project sites, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare investment memoranda and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related multifamily real estate due diligence experience; strong communication and analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, Yardi, and Adobe. The role involves in-person work with a hybrid policy at Essex’s Woodland Hills or Irvine offices, with occasional travel within California and Washington. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in business administration, finance, economics, real estate or related field
- 5+ years of related experience in multi-family real estate due diligence, asset management, or financial analysis
- Experience with the California or Washington multi-family real estate markets preferred
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Yardi, and Adobe
