Senior Associate - Diligence (Chicago)

Job Summary
Lead workstreams within specialty finance diligence, managing interactions with lenders and borrowers while reviewing and validating lender reporting, borrowing base calculations, and securitization performance metrics. Assess underwriting, servicing, collections, and operational controls by analyzing portfolio performance trends and conducting sample-based file testing, data validation, and documentation analysis. Prepare client-facing conclusions, exception summaries, and recommendations after reviewing work prepared by analysts and supporting coaching on fieldwork and report drafting. Manage information requests and borrower interviews to execute day-to-day engagement activities. This role combines portfolio analysis, operational diligence, and collateral testing for a team focused on lending businesses and structured transactions.
Required Qualifications
- approximately 4-5 years of experience in audit, assurance, transaction services, field examination, due diligence, commercial finance or related lending work
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related discipline
- Strong Excel, data analysis and financial reconciliation skills
- Strong report writing skills and ability to present findings clearly to lenders, investors and management teams
- The ability to effectively manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Travel is expected to be approximately 10-20%
- Hybrid working model, with 2-3 days in the office on non-travel weeks
Desired Qualifications
- CPA qualification preferred but not essential
- Direct field exam, lender due diligence, securitization, ABL or specialty finance experience
- Market contacts or prior competitor experience
- An eagerness to embrace innovation and leverage new tools and technologies to drive efficiency and continuous improvement
