Job Summary
Assist the Deli Manager in daily deli operations, including food preparation, service, sales, and staff scheduling. Oversee inventory management, order receiving, and stocking to minimize waste while ensuring strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. Lead team development through effective interviewing, training, and coaching to enhance customer service skills. Implement merchandising strategies, monitor profit and loss statements, and handle customer inquiries to drive sales and profitability. Operate and maintain all equipment safely while enforcing portion control and product rotation procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Serv-Safe or similar certifications
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in chain retail deli food service or restaurant management
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- General knowledge of inventory management principles
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Available to work any required shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems
- Reaching overhead with both arms up to a maximum of 74 inches, twisting at the waist and lifting objects with both hands weighing up to 20 lbs
- Pushing and pulling grocery items to the proper locations as needed, up to a peak force of 50 lbs
- Standing and walking for long periods of time on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50lbs., to a height of 34 inches
- Able to work in colder conditions of the grocery coolers and freezers
- Bending and squatting, at times all the way to floor level
- Climbing a ladder, possibly up to 5ft
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a related field
- Comprehensive knowledge of deli food preparation techniques
