Senior Asset Manager, Special Assets (Distressed Multifamily Loans)

Job Summary
Senior Asset Manager oversees a portfolio of high-risk, delinquent and non-performing multifamily loans with a focus on affordable housing, LIHTC, Agency and Non-Agency products. Independently manages distressed assets, develops workout recommendations, supports restructures and loss-mitigation strategies, and partners with Legal, Credit, and Servicing. Acts as primary contact for complex assets, leads borrower discussions, coordinates with investors and internal stakeholders, and prepares credit memos and risk assessments. Provides guidance to junior team members, maintains asset data accuracy in servicing systems, and monitors portfolio performance. Travel as needed; remote role available in MO, KS, and TX with periodic travel to NY offices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Real Estate, or related field preferred)
- 5–7+ years of experience with strong knowledge of multifamily asset management and non-performing loans, including Agency and Non-Agency products (experience with LIHTC preferred)
- Proven ability to manage complex assets and deliver clear, well-supported credit recommendations
- Proficiency in financial analysis, valuation concepts, and risk assessment (cash flow, collateral performance, business plans)
- Strong communication, organizational, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Travel required as needed
