Job Summary
Lead architectural design and technical documentation for large-scale data center projects, overseeing site planning, core/shell configurations, and complex white space layouts. Develop comprehensive Basis of Design documents, programming, and site-fit analyses prioritizing power density and tiered redundancy. Function as technical lead during milestone presentations and design charrettes, translating operational requirements into actionable solutions. Maintain BIM models using Revit, coordinate across disciplines through federated models, and perform clash detection with Navisworks. Interpret and apply codes including IBC, NFPA, and TIA-942 standards to ensure regulatory compliance. Prepare construction documents, specifications, and detail drawings for client review and permitting. Conduct site assessments to verify existing conditions and optimize scalability. Lead quality control reviews, mentor junior staff, and manage submittal reviews and RFIs to meet project schedules. Integrate sustainable design principles supporting LEED documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
- Licensed Architect with responsible charge authority
- Minimum of twelve years of professional architectural experience
- Majority of experience specializing in mission-critical/data center facility design
- Thorough understanding of relevant codes and standards, including IBC, NFPA, and TIA-942 standards
Desired Qualifications
- Direct exposure to hyperscale or colocation data center facilities and understanding of their unique design and operational demands
- Experience delivering LEED-certified projects, with familiarity in sustainable architectural materials and energy-saving design strategies
- Background supporting commissioning and startup phases of critical facility projects, including constructability reviews and coordination of system testing
- Awareness of project cost management and schedule constraints to balance design innovation with practical delivery imperatives
