Job Summary
Define target state architecture and roadmaps while conducting hands-on prototyping and technology proof of concepts to ensure solution feasibility. Partner with leadership to drive continuous technology transformation, minimize technical debt, and support modernization initiatives across enterprise domains. Deliver comprehensive communications on architectural direction to secure buy-in and establish scalable frameworks using cloud-native technologies, APIs, and AI/ML. This role directly impacts organizational agility and system integration within Travelers' Enterprise Technology Solutions organization, bridging business strategy with technical implementation to enable rapid adaptation and scaling.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience
- 8 years of architecture experience
- 6 additional years of architecture/software engineering experience
- Strong architecture and recent hands-on engineering experience with modern technologies
- Successfully architected large scale technology initiatives
- Advanced leadership skills with the ability to take action even when there is no clear owner, inspire and motivate others, and be effective at influencing team members
- Extensive experience working an agile operational model
- Experience supporting transformational change
- Able to adjust plans, priorities and strategies in response to changing circumstances
- Experience in identifying and analyzing current/future problems and opportunities, evaluating information to understand root causes, and exploring alternative solutions for effective decision-making
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with teammates to achieve mutually responsible results
- Extensive experience exercising sound judgment, making decisions and committing to a position
- Strong and effective verbal, written and listening communication skills

- Insurance technology experience preferred
- Understanding of value creation and business capability models
- Strong knowledge of the insurance industry
