Job Summary
Support technical communities in Automotive, Heavy-Duty, and Industrial OEM markets by partnering with sales to identify application requirements, develop clamping solutions, and validate them through DV testing. Design and propose solutions from a wide product array, conduct project meetings, and lead internal and customer discussions. Establish characteristics using DFMEA, communicate requirements in multi-functional APQP meetings, and design test methods for concept and prototype feasibility. Conduct product validation testing relative to customer requirements and industry standards for fuel, air, and fluid applications. Communicate as the technical expert to ensure concise understanding of Ideal-Tridon products and services. Provide technical support to purchasing and suppliers, manage numerous projects for timely execution, and contribute to system improvements including ECR/ECN, APQP, DV, DFMEA, PFMEA, and PPAP. Ensure compliance with Quality and Environmental Management Systems, contain nonconforming products, and complete RIDs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Eight or more years of experience in high volume manufacturing
- Three to five years' experience in SolidWorks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite software package (including Microsoft Project)
- Ability to perform APQP, DOE, DVP&R, DFMEA and PFMEA activities
- Ability to apply logic, reasoning and scientific thinking to a wide range of technical problems
- Excellent technical writing skills to produce clean and detailed documentation, reports and presentations including design specifications, testing protocols, and project reports
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to apply logic, reasoning and scientific thinking to a wide range of technical problems
- Candidate must be 'Hands-on' and willing to participate with lab testing and manufacturing DOE activities as required
- Travel as needed including international
Desired Qualifications
- T-Bolt/V-Band or No-Hub plumbing product knowledge
- Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and tolerancing
- Finite Element Analysis
- Working knowledge of metallurgical properties, elevated-temperature performance, and applications of stainless steel products
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Design, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TS 16949, and ISO 14001
