Job Summary
Lead a global applications engineering organization across firmware, embedded software, and hardware domains for advanced automotive Battery Management System (BMS) semiconductor solutions. Define and execute application engineering strategy aligned with product roadmaps, while driving system validation, firmware development, and AUTOSAR enablement. Deliver hardware enablement via reference designs and ensure compliance with automotive standards such as ISO 26262 and ASPICE. Act as the executive technical interface for key OEMs and Tier 1 customers, translating requirements into actionable product improvements. Collaborate closely with Product Marketing, R&D, and Sales to influence product definitions and drive design-in activities. Based in Greater Munich, Düsseldorf, or Graz, this role requires 15+ years of experience in automotive semiconductor applications and fluency in German and English.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in Applications, Systems, or R&D within the automotive semiconductor industry
- Fluent in German and English
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Proven experience in automotive Battery Management Systems (Tier 1 or OEM background preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership of global technical teams supporting customers and partners
- Strong problem-solving capability with proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Lead and scale a global applications engineering organization across firmware, embedded software, and hardware
- Define and execute the Automotive BMS application engineering strategy aligned with product roadmaps and business objectives
- Drive organizational excellence, including capability development, hiring, and performance management
- Establish and enforce best practices for design methodologies, reuse, and platform-based development
- Lead system validation activities (functional, ESD, EMC)
- Drive device firmware development enabling software-defined hardware concepts
- Provide software enablement for customers, including embedded test software and GUI tools
- Drive AUTOSAR enablement (OS, MCAL, CDD), including configuration tools (e.g., DaVinci)
- Deliver hardware enablement via reference designs and evaluation boards
- Ensure high-quality delivery of application collateral (reference designs, application notes, development tools)
- Support system-level architecture and design-in activities for complex automotive applications
- Drive development of virtual prototyping platforms
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards and processes (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 21434, ASPICE)
- Act as executive technical interface for key automotive OEMs and Tier 1 customers
- Drive design-in and design-win activities through system-level solution positioning
- Support customers during integration, validation, and issue resolution
- Translate customer requirements into actionable product and development improvements
- Collaborate closely with: Product Marketing (positioning and roadmap alignment), R&D / Systems / Product Definition (silicon and platform development), Sales (customer engagement and opportunity management)
- Influence product definitions based on field insights and customer feedback
- Drive partnerships with ecosystem stakeholders (e.g., HIL vendors, software partners, tool providers)
