Job Summary
Deliver polished animation work meeting creative intent and production specifications, focusing on timing, weight, and arcs for realistic creatures, mechanical objects, and stylized characters. Interpret reference materials to build nuanced performances, propose original motion choices, and integrate feedback to elevate shot quality. Ensure animation is clean, export-ready, and troubleshoot rigging or scene issues while maintaining pipeline standards. Provide realistic time estimates, communicate promptly on delays, and collaborate with leads to adjust priorities. Participate actively in dailies and reviews, presenting work clearly and responding to notes. Share tools and approaches with peers to foster collective improvement while staying current with evolving software and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in a VFX studio environment
- Proven experience as a Senior Animation Artist
- Must be based in the Province of Quebec
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid open work permit)
- Strong proficiency in Maya
- Solid understanding of body mechanics, facial animation
- Ability to animate from reference and build compelling acting performances
- High attention to detail, autonomy, and ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Positive, collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with other animation tools
- Experience with ShotGrid or other production tracking tools
- Knowledge of rigging fundamentals or custom tool development
