Job Summary
Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis at Uncommon Schools. Own complex financial modeling and cross-regional analysis to support strategic planning, network growth, staffing, and multi-variable scenarios across a nonprofit education network. Translate financial data into clear insights for school leaders, regional teams, and senior leadership; prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports with variance analysis; create clear summaries and visuals for internal stakeholders and external audiences; maintain reliable analysis outputs and dashboards in Adaptive Insights; identify opportunities to standardize processes and automate tasks; collaborate with Finance leadership to improve workflows. Role requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or related field, 3–4 years of professional experience with finance-related duties, strong Excel and financial modeling skills, ability to communicate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences, and alignment with a mission-driven, nonprofit education environment. The position is in New York, NY, with a hybrid work arrangement and in-person three days per week at the Central Office in Manhattan.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 3–4 years of professional experience, with at least 1–2 years of direct experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting
- Strong understanding of finance principles, including financial modeling and core accounting concepts
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and maintain complex financial models
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure and tackle ambiguous questions
- High attention to detail and strong follow-through on deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort learning new tools and systems, with strong digital literacy
