Job Summary
Lead end-to-end design and development of complex hardware circuits packs, including schematic capture, signal integrity assessment, and PCB layout. Select components to satisfy functional requirements while adhering to cost, power, and real estate budgets. Coordinate PCB fabrication and assembly with operations, ensuring compliance through detailed validation of design interfaces. Lead investigations into technical issues, drawing expertise from multidisciplinary teams to uncover root causes and resolutions. Author design documentation, conduct milestone meetings, and mentor junior engineers to drive continuous improvement in design practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, or Master's, degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of hardware design experience
- Implementation history as a design lead of high layer count circuit packs
- Familiarity of technology related to CPU's, Networking devices, FPGA, timing devices, DDR, PCIe, FLASH memory
- Expertise in analog and digital circuit design and testing
- Strong analog circuit design fundamentals: amplifiers, filters, comparators, data converters, Electro-optics circuit (control loops)
- Experience in designing circuits for power conversion and sensitive low-noise circuitry
- Experience in design validation with a focus on lab measurement techniques and test equipment
- Ability to parse component datasheets and extract design and verification criteria
- Proven record of supporting and troubleshooting hardware issues both during development and within production environments
- Proficiency with Schematic Capture and Layout tools, such as Cadence Concept and Allegro, or equivalent EDA software
- Excellent communication, documentation, interpersonal and team-working skills
Desired Qualifications
- Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, collaborate and delegate as necessary to meet schedules and respect internal and external customer commitments
- Experience with Fiber Optics and Photonic component including SFPs, Photodiodes, APDs and Lasers
- Experience or interest in using simulation tools like TINA and LTSpice
