Job Summary
Lead planning, execution, and continuous improvement of AIV activities for satellite systems, driving assembly, integration, functional testing, environmental testing, and launch site operations. Coordinate hardware components, GSE, procedures, and schedules with design, manufacturing, QA, procurement, and external providers. Develop AIV plans, workflows, and GSE requirements based on design information, drawings, ICDs, BOMs, and quality standards. Identify and resolve technical, schedule, quality, and safety issues through root cause analysis and stakeholder collaboration. Serve as the bridge between engineering design and manufacturing/test operations to drive improvements in manufacturability, inspectability, and QCD. Track V&V progress and report status to project teams and management while promoting standardization and knowledge sharing across multiple projects. Provide technical guidance and execution support to team members in Japanese and English.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in leading assembly, integration, testing, production engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or related engineering activities for complex system products such as spacecraft, aircraft, automotive systems, industrial machinery, robotics, or plant systems, including planning, stakeholder coordination, and problem-solving.
- Ability to interpret and utilize design information, drawings, ICDs (Interface Control Documents), BOMs (Bills of Materials), test requirements, and quality requirements to develop and improve work plans, schedules, procedures, GSE requirements, and issue management processes necessary for AIV activities.
- Proven experience in leading root cause analysis, resolution planning, stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement activities for technical, schedule, quality, and safety issues arising in operational environments.
- Experience collaborating with multiple internal departments and external partners to define technical issues, establish resolution strategies, and drive improvement initiatives.
- Ability to effectively coordinate on-site operations, conduct safety confirmations, provide work instructions, and communicate issues and status updates in Japanese.
- Comfortable working in English, including reading and writing technical documentation, emails, participating in meetings, and communicating through chat tools, with the ability to clarify and confirm information as needed to ensure successful task execution.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of, or experience in, satellite system and subsystem Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) activities.
- Experience in the definition of requirements, specification development, design coordination, procurement, implementation, commissioning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
- Experience in creating and improving assembly and test plans, work instructions, schedules, and work standards, or in driving improvements in manufacturability, testability, assembly efficiency, operability, inspectability, and QCD (Quality, Cost, and Delivery).
- Experience with multi-unit production, product development involving complex test facilities, assembly, integration and testing activities, or project management, including risk management, issue management, change management, and configuration management.
- Knowledge of, or interest in, on-orbit servicing, satellite operations, launch vehicle interfaces, and launch site operations.
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Project for task management, schedule management, knowledge sharing, and process improvement.
- Experience providing technical support, knowledge sharing, mentoring, or execution support to team members and cross-functional teams.
