Senior AI/ML Engineer

Job Summary
Shape technical solutions by turning ambiguous AI/ML problems into clear, practical approaches and breaking complex initiatives into executable engineering work. Guide AI/ML decisions by making trade-offs across data, models, and systems to balance quality, reliability, cost, and performance. Provide technical leadership to engineers, data scientists, and domain experts while establishing good practices for reliable, scalable ML systems. Build AI and data products for energy environments, including predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and production systems on large-scale multimodal datasets. This hybrid permanent role requires 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience building real-world AI, ML or data products
- Strong understanding of AI/ML systems, from data and modelling through to production
- Experience taking initiatives from an uncertain or early-stage idea through to a working solution
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, particularly in Python
- Experience working with data-intensive or time-series systems
- The ability to reason about system design, dependencies, scalability, reliability and operational constraints
- Strong judgement when evaluating technical options and trade-offs
- The ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working effectively with engineers, data scientists, product and domain experts
- A collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively
- 3 days on-site and 2 days working from home
