Job Summary
Senior AI Engineer based in Sydney with hybrid flexibility to lead GenAI initiatives. Responsibilities include building production-scale GenAI applications using AWS Bedrock, implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation with Knowledge Bases and vector search, designing AI agents capable of reasoning and executing complex workflows, establishing prompt engineering best practices and evaluation pipelines, and ensuring AI safety through guardrails, observability, and cost optimization. Collaborates with Product Management and Software Engineering to translate AI use cases from concept to production, and provides technical leadership and mentorship to the team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years in software development
- 2+ years focused on production AI/GenAI systems
- 2+ years with AWS Bedrock, Knowledge Bases, or similar AI services
- 3+ years with Python for AI/ML development
- 2+ years with NodeJS/TypeScript for backend services
- Experience with AWS Bedrock Guardrails, prompts, evaluation methodologies, AI safety practices
- Hands-on experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, and AI observability
