Job Summary
Conduct actuarial pricing analysis for new and renewal portfolio and structured deals, assessing expected profitability, volatility, and capital impact of individual transactions. Develop and maintain monitoring processes to evaluate segment-level profitability, emerging trends, and rate adequacy, producing data-driven conclusions for underwriting or strategic action. Maintain feedback loops between pricing, reserving, and business planning to support loss ratio selections and exposure management. Collaborate with underwriters to translate technical findings into practical insights and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Operate primarily as an individual contributor in a front-line role focused on technical excellence and analytical depth.
Required Qualifications
- Fellow of a recognised actuarial body (or equivalent experience with strong exam progression)
- Strong background in general insurance pricing, ideally within the London Market
- Proven experience delivering hands-on actuarial pricing analysis for complex or non-standard risks
- Excellent technical skills, including experience with Pricing models
- Portfolio analysis
- Large or complex datasets
- Strong analytical judgement and ability to operate in low-precedent environments
- Clear and confident communicator, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Ability to build strong working relationships with peers, management and different business functions
- Proficient in Excel
- Proficient in VBA
- Proficient in SQL
- Ability to create pricing tools to support day to day underwriting workflow
- Ability to work under own initiative and show flexibility to meet business needs
Desired Qualifications
- R or Python skills
- Experience with: Portfolio or follow-line capacity arrangements
- Structured or multi-line insurance solutions
- Delegated authority / MGA business
- Familiarity with exposure management and aggregation risk concepts
- Experience contributing to pricing system or model development initiatives
