Job Summary
Manage bookkeeping and accounting duties within the County's financial system, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and general ledger maintenance. Process invoices, reconcile various accounts, prepare monthly journal entries, and ensure all accounts remain up-to-date. Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers while resolving discrepancies and reviewing submitted materials for accuracy. Provide backup support for payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, and assist the County Attorney with child support accounting issues. Contribute to departmental policy development and serve as a resource for interdepartmental financial inquiries.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent with additional coursework in office and business practices
- College-level courses in accounting and technical training desirable
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in field of bookkeeping/accounting in a private or public organization of moderate complexity
- Prior experience in accounts payable/receivables processing and reporting desirable
- Knowledge of Federal and State Accounting Policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS)
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Skill to organize materials and present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Proficient knowledge of the English language, proper grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondences
- Ability to read, comprehend and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and standard operating procedures
- Ability to read, comprehend and apply basic how-to documents and manuals
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations and members of the community

- Valid Colorado Driver's License
- Satisfactory driving record
- Successful completion of HIPAA training and NIMS IS 100 & 700 courses within one (1) year of hire
- Regular and predictable attendance
Desired Qualifications
