Senior Accounting Manager / Hands-On Controller

Job Summary
Manage full-cycle general ledger bookkeeping, including posting transactions, preparing accruals, and executing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll. Enforce technical GAAP compliance, design internal controls, and oversee revenue recognition under ASC 606 while leading external annual audits and tax strategy. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management dashboards, and board reporting packages alongside cost control analysis on payroll, operating expenses, and COGS. Maintain equity accounting for convertible notes and SAFEs, reconcile bank and subsidiary accounts, and implement cloud-based ERP software. Coordinate with external attorneys, lenders, and tax preparers to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
- 7–10+ years of progressive corporate finance/accounting experience
- Experience in public audit
- Experience in a Controller role
- Experience in early-stage/venture-backed startups
- Deep expertise in GAAP
- Deep expertise in ASC 606
- Deep expertise in inventory/WIP accounting
- Deep expertise in job costing
- Deep expertise in equity accounting (SAFEs, convertible notes)
- Proficiency with cloud accounting tools (QuickBooks Online, BILL, Gusto, Ramp, Expensify)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Modern collaboration tools (Slack, Google Workspace)
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Exceptional time management

- Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for stakeholders
