Job Summary
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Affiliates, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals. Maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP while monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improved performance, supporting leadership with budget-to-actual analyses and ad hoc modeling. Assist with grant accounting, annual audits, IRS Form 990 filings, and the development of annual operating budgets. Ensure proper internal controls and accounting procedures are followed across all operations. This role supports the financial operations of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the world's largest private funder of breast cancer research. Staff must work onsite a minimum of three days per week in New York.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of accounting and financial analysis experience
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employer support or sponsorship now or in the future
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in non-profit accounting
- Proficient in Finance ERPs
- Experience working with Sage Intacct
- Experience in fund accounting, grant reporting and donor-restricted funds
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Strong attention to detail
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Mission-aligned, collaborative, and comfortable working cross-functionally
- Strong skills in Excel
- Proficiency across the rest of the Microsoft Office suite
