Job Summary
Maintain accurate records of Canadian financial transactions, including accounts payable, general ledger entries, and reconciliations. Own assigned areas of the month-end and year-end close, preparing financial statements, tax filings, and management reports. Verify payment documentation weekly and update finance systems with timely data. Ensure adherence to internal policies, support internal and external audits, and identify process improvements. Report suspected non-compliance to Finance Leadership. Deliver financial information to strengthen operational decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations
- Experience with Sage or a comparable ERP
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance staff
Desired Qualifications
- CPA designation completed or in progress is considered an asset
- Experience in a nonprofit or NGO finance environment
