Job Summary
Lead and support a team responsible for bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting services while developing under the guidance of the current Manager during a planned succession. Oversee bookkeeping functions including bank and investment reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation, and manage payroll processing and related compliance filings. Prepare annual and quarterly financial reports for clients, assist with QuickBooks setup, and develop processes to streamline billing and standardize departmental procedures. Supervise and mentor bookkeeping staff, provide ongoing training, and build strong client relationships as a trusted accounting resource. This leadership role is part of a growing accounting services division within Schwan Financial Group, offering a collaborative environment focused on client service and career development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3+ years of professional accounting and payroll experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping procedures, payroll processing, and financial reporting
- Experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, payroll tax filings, and financial statements
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage confidential financial information with discretion
