Senior Accountant - Payable

Job Summary
Review supplier invoices for accuracy, completeness, and validity, including verification of VAT, withholding tax, and other applicable Zambian tax requirements. Code invoices to the general ledger, cost centers, and projects while proactively escalating irregularities or fraud indicators. Onboard new suppliers in the Procure to Pay system and perform monthly reconciliations of supplier statements and the AP sub-ledger to the general ledger. Respond to supplier queries, prepare weekly aging analyses, and support month-end close activities, accruals, and audit processes. Ensure full compliance with Zambian tax regulations and maintain organized, audit-ready documentation. Contribute to policy reviews, workflow automation, and cash flow forecasting.
Required Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification: CA Zambia, ACCA, or CIMA
- Current registered member in good standing with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in an Accounts Payable or similar finance role, ideally in a multinational, mining, or other capital-intensive industry
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Zambian tax regulations, including VAT, withholding tax, and ZRA filing requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy in financial work
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to investigate discrepancies independently
- High level of personal integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Self-starter mindset with a willingness to take ownership and drive process improvements
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment characteristic of an early-stage, growth-oriented company
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers, auditors, and senior leadership
- This position is a full-time contract
