Job Summary
Prepare monthly project-related journal entries, perform project-level financial analyses, and prepare account reconciliations under US GAAP and ASC 606. Successfully execute key Sarbanes-Oxley controls in Projects, Revenue, and Financial Close Management while supporting internal and external audits. Gather documentation for cross-functional projects and lead process improvement initiatives. Based full-time in the Houston, TX office, this role requires five years of accounting experience and strong collaboration with Project Accounting and Project Controls teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field
- Advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- Minimum of five years of full-time accounting work experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from manager
- General knowledge of US GAAP
- General knowledge of SOX
- Proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives
- Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
- Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers
- Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly
- Ability to apply new concepts accurately in a rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to lift ten to fifteen pounds
- Ability to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportation
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle ERP and EPM is not required, but is a plus
