Senior Accountant - Nonprofit Healthcare | Hybrid Role

Job Summary

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules. Prepare and analyze financial statements while investigating variances, ensuring accuracy through timely reconciliations and subledger-to-general ledger checks. Support external audits by preparing schedules and implementing recommendations, alongside maintaining compliance with nonprofit standards and donor restrictions. Analyze financial trends, research GAAP guidance, and recommend accounting solutions. Identify process improvements, document procedures, and maintain proficiency with Microsoft Business Central. Provide guidance on the chart of accounts and expense allocations, offering backup support for accounts payable as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Reliable transportation

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Nonprofit or healthcare accounting experience
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, audit preparation, and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Business Central
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and donor restrictions
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical accounting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Attention to detail & Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, including extended hours during month-end close or audits
  • Ability to work in a hybrid office/remote environment with prolonged computer and phone use
