Job Summary
Senior Accountant in nonprofit sector responsible for client engagements including audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed-upon procedures; act as in-charge for assigned engagements including client interaction and budget preparation; prepare financial statements and tax/informational returns; conduct research to gain expertise; manage administrative tasks and participate in meetings; maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies; support bookkeeping duties; develop professionally with mentor and opportunities to prepare for CPA/EA exams; supervise and train interns; role includes 55 hours/week during busy season and 40-45 hours/week otherwise; role based in Madison, WI.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a staff accountant in a public accounting firm or equivalent work experience required, preferably serving nonprofit organizations
- Pursuing CPA Examination preferred. If appropriate, pursuing the EA Examination required.
- Specialized knowledge: nonprofit accounting principles, familiarity with Uniform Guidance, exempt organization taxation, and nonprofit financial reporting preferred.
