Job Summary

Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board and assist with the annual financial audit. Monitor monthly and year-end close, internal controls, and the integrity of the financial data system. Provide technical accounting consultation, advice, and recommendations while analyzing methods to streamline existing processes. Assist with developing, updating, and implementing financial policies and procedures, including delivering training to staff on accounting, auditing, and enterprise systems. Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and capital assets to protect the integrity of the County's financial accounting system. This role supports the Department of County Management's General Ledger Unit in safeguarding public resources and ensuring accurate financial reporting for Multnomah County.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 years of progressively responsible financial accounting or auditing experience
  • Experience in the preparation of financial statements

  • Experience preparing financial statements and schedule included in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for government-wide and fund level, including Schedules of Revenues, Expenditures and Changes in Fund Balances – Budget and Actual, Statements of Revenues, Expenditures/Expenses, and Changes in Fund Balances/Net Position, Balance Sheets, Statements of Net Position, Statements of Cash Flows
  • Professional certifications in accounting, finance or directly related field
