Job Summary
Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations while consolidating operating information for internal and external financial reporting. Work with internal and external auditors, prepare analytical schedules, and analyze variances to support internal requests. Actively identify, lead, and manage process improvement projects. Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, including statutory-basis statements, as assigned. This role supports Kemper's Corporate Accounting team within the P&C segment, focusing on SEC/GAAP and statutory financial reporting for a multi-billion dollar insurance company.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years of industry or public accounting experience
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Familiarity with US GAAP
- Familiarity with statutory accounting principles is a plus
- Experience navigating a large ERP environment
- Proficiency in MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Experience in Workday and Blackline a strong plus
- Ability to identify, analyze and solve accounting issues
