Job Summary
Senior Accountant will prepare and review financial records to ensure GAAP compliance, assess financial operations, and support FIAR initiatives. Responsibilities include applying general ledger accounting to post entries, balancing accounts, reconciling discrepancies, performing double-entry bookkeeping, reviewing computer printouts against spreadsheets to detect and correct erroneous postings, preparing adjustment documents, reviewing transactions rejected by automated systems and preparing correcting entries, independently managing workload with minimal supervision, using Visio to flowchart accounting processes and document workflows, ensuring desk guides are accurate for all accountant positions, and providing coaching and mentoring to junior accounting team members. Bid and proposal support may be requested. Proficiency in MS Office and strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance. Location is Keyport, WA, with in-person work arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in accounting, business, or a related technical discipline
- Current (or ability to obtain and maintain) Secret security clearance (T3 background investigation)
- Typically requires at least two (2) years of financial audit experience working independently
- Must possess expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Must possess expert knowledge of general ledger accounting, auditing standards, and processes
- Must be able to design, document, and continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Must be able to identify internal control gaps through testing and lead remediation efforts
- Must be able to evaluate transaction-level evidential matter to support audit conclusions and financial integrity
- Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Must possess strong time management skills
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
