Job Summary
Monitor inventory, reconcile asset records to the general ledger monthly, and process procurement card statements with timely posting and review. Verify employee advance reconciliations, maintain equipment leases under GASB standards, and prepare periodic accounting reports including sales tax filings and annual financial schedules. Assist the Director of Accounting in year-end closing procedures, verify general ledger balances, and prepare adjusting entries as required. Schedule and conduct periodic physical inventory counts, analyze purchases, and investigate inappropriate use of funds. Develop written guidelines and training materials to ensure compliance with district policies and School Board regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, management, or related field, required
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of governmental accounting
- Proficient skills in Excel, Word, keyboarding and file maintenance
- Skill in working independently with little supervision
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, develop data, and recommend improved processes
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and/or projects, and adhere to tight timelines
- Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, create and manipulate text documents
- Two to three years of accounting experience dependent on education, preferably in governmental accounting
