Job Summary
Maintain and reconcile attorney trust (IOLTA) accounts, review settlement activity for compliance, and monitor trust balances to identify discrepancies. Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, and assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure general ledger accuracy. Ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls while assisting with external audits and tax support requests. Partner with Accounting, Operations, Legal, and Executive Leadership to resolve issues and implement process improvements that increase efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience within a personal injury law firm
- Strong understanding of attorney trust accounting and settlement transactions
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to research across multiple sources
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in a personal injury law firm
- Proficiency in NetSuite and Litify (or other case management software)
