Job Summary
Senior Accountant at Alight responsible for owning the full accounting cycle across general ledger, payroll coordination, and accounts payable, with a focus on nonprofit donor compliance and audit readiness. Core duties include maintaining the general ledger, coordinating payroll and benefits with HR, reviewing AP, handling intercompany accounting, supporting annual audits, and implementing process improvements. Requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, knowledge of GAAP/nonprofit accounting, experience with BlackLine, Sylogist, and Microsoft Business Central, and ability to collaborate with HQ and international teams. Role reports to the Director of Finance & Accounting, with hybrid on-site/remote work in Minneapolis or DC Metro Area (travel ~5%). Compensation range: $80,000-$90,000.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience; nonprofit or fund accounting experience strongly preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central / Sylogist and BlackLine experience a plus
- Experience in financial reporting, general ledger reconciliation, and accounts payable
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
- Nonprofit or fund accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central / Sylogist and BlackLine is a plus
- Understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
- Donor compliance knowledge (U.S. Government 2 CFR Uniform Guidance) a plus
- Strong excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, able to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and collaboration across HQ and international teams
