Job Summary
Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business comprising high-complexity accounts. Underwrite and negotiate highly complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability while cultivating relationships with internal partners and external agents. Foster cross-selling opportunities through regular in-person meetings with brokers and identify new business opportunities using advanced consultative marketing skills. Independently develop and execute agency sales plans, frequently partnering with the Managing Director to create region and group sales plans. Support less experienced underwriters by leveraging advanced coaching and mentorship skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Eight to ten years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in National Accounts
- Deep knowledge of loss sensitive products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with our risk appetite
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations with agents and brokers
- Advanced sales and marketing skills
- CPCU designation
- Four years of underwriting experience
- Must be able to travel to such meetings
