Job Summary
Senior Account Executive for Federal Accounts will prospect, qualify, and generate new business with federal and defense customers, focusing on prototype parts through sustainment needs. You’ll lead strategic revenue growth within the federal segment, build relationships with engineering, program management, procurement, and executive stakeholders, set up high-level sales calls, and navigate federal procurement processes (FAR/DFARS). You’ll collaborate with technical staff to meet customer needs, ensure accurate CRM data, advocate for the company’s value, and contribute to ongoing training and mentoring. The role requires travel up to 30-50%, strong presentation and negotiation skills, and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a background in manufacturing/engineering is highly preferred. The position supports a hybrid work arrangement in the Lexington, KY and North Bethesda, MD areas, with base salary in the $125k–$135k range plus commission.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in federal acquisition (Navy or Air Force experience preferred)
- 2+ years of sales experience in a closing and quota carrying role
- 2+ years of experience selling technical products or services in the manufacturing space
- Knowledge of government contracting and procurement processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing or engineering highly preferred
- Ability to travel up to 30-50% of the time
- High proficiency with in-person and virtual presentations with customers
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom/WebEx/GoToMeeting
- CRM experience with Salesforce or similar systems
- Prospecting and sales planning skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; written and verbal
- Strong negotiation skills and results driven
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced high growth environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent years of experience
