Job Summary
Senior 3D Artist role based in Australia (preferably Adelaide, Brisbane, or Melbourne; remote considered for other Australian cities) focusing on 3D asset creation for AAA game projects. Responsibilities include creating high-quality 3D assets (characters, environments, props, materials), producing polished models, textures, shaders optimized for real-time game engines, collaborating with concept artists, designers, animators, and technical artists, ensuring assets meet performance and platform requirements, applying topology/UV/PBR best practices, and contributing to pipeline improvements. Mentorship and leadership are expected to guide junior and mid-level artists, with a strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, artistic direction adherence, and staying current with industry trends.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a 3D Artist in the video game industry with a strong portfolio of real-time assets
- Proficiency in Autodesk Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and related tools
- Strong understanding of modelling, sculpting, UV mapping, texturing, lighting, composition, anatomy, form, colour theory, and material creation
- Experience creating optimized assets for Unreal Engine or Unity
- Strong understanding of PBR workflows, topology, performance optimization across multiple platforms
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and incorporate feedback
- Knowledge of game development pipelines and ability to adapt artistic styles to various genres/platforms
- Experience guiding and communicating with art teams through concept to in-game implementation
- Interest in staying current with industry trends and contributing to pipelines and processes
