Job Summary
Teach gospel-centered, scripture-based instruction as a Seminary or Institute Teacher in Salt Lake City. Student teachers teach one or two seminary classes, are paid for teaching and administrative time, and typically commit 15-20 hours per week. The role involves effective administration, collaboration with parents and priesthood leaders, a learner-focused approach, and ongoing training through REL 471, a student teaching practicum, and potential future employment decisions managed by local S&I administrators.
Required Qualifications
- Complete the REL 471 Teaching Seminary Workshop
- Participate in a brief (3-4 days) teaching practicum in a local seminary
- Student teachers are hired to teach one or two seminary classes in a local seminary
- Student teachers are paid for teaching time, and for preparation and administrative time
- Typical student teacher assignment is 15-20 hours per week
- Decisions about full-time employment are made by administration of Seminaries and Institutes in Salt Lake City
- Decisions about part-time employment are made by local S&I administrators and depend on current demand
