Job Summary
Rail Switching Technician role at PSC Group in Selma, AL. This full-time outdoor position involves safely moving railcars within an industrial facility to support day-to-day operations, with night shifts (6:00 PM - 2:00 AM). Responsibilities include reviewing track lists to identify and organize railcars for spotting, loading, or outbound movement; ensuring railcars are properly connected and secured by setting brakes and verifying couplings; separating loaded cars for shipment from preloaded or empty cars; weighing inbound and outbound cars to confirm compliance with weight limits; and performing additional duties to support safe and efficient rail operations. Qualifications include 18+ and legally able to work in the U.S., possibly a valid Driver’s License and/or TWIC card depending on location, passing a drug screen, physical, and background check; fluency in English (reading/writing/speaking); on-site attendance; PPE compliance and medical exam requirements; prior military experience is a plus. Training is provided on the job, with benefits and opportunities for advancement.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
- Valid Driver’s License and/or a valid TWIC card, depending on work location
- Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
- Speak, write, read fluent English
- Regular on-site attendance and punctuality
- Wear all required PPE without restriction and pass any required medical exams
- Previous military experience is a plus
